Container Homes Thailand – Our Shipping Container House
Welcome to our shipping container home here in sunny Thailand. Kick your flip-flops off, beware of the dog and come on in! It started with a dream! We followed through with modelling a concept and finally realised our ambition to built a home using four shipping containers.
What are Shipping Containers?
Shipping containers are used for transporting goods from one country to another.
Shipping containers are made out of steel and come in standardised sizes, which means that they can be loaded on any ship or truck without any modifications being required.
Reasons to Use Shipping Containers
Shipping containers have been used to transport goods for decades. It is only in recent years that they have been used as a building material to construct modular container homes.
There are many benefits of using shipping containers to build container homes. They are durable, cost-effective and easy to transport. They can be used as a space for storage, an office, and like in our case a modern, comfortable home.
Most of my adult life I’ve lived in warehouses, above pubs, hotels and condos. The very thought of living in a traditional house seems quite boring to me so when I first stumbled upon the idea of building a shipping container home, I was instantly hooked. Fortunately my wife was all for it too.
