Wat Rong Khun – The White Temple

เช้าวันรุ่งขึ้นที่สดใส ณ เชียงราย
เริ่มสิ่งดีๆด้วยการไปไหว้สักการะวัดสวยแห่งหนึ่งของเชียงราย ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นแลนมาร์คก็ว่าได้ที่ใครก็มากัน
การเดินทางจากที่พัก เราไม่ได้นำรถส่วนตัวมา ก็เลยไปโดยแท็กซี่ ราคาจำไม่ได้ว่าเสียไปเท่าไรแต่พี่แท็กซี่ก็กดมิตเตอร์ให้นะค่ะแต่ก็จะมีเสียเพิ่มค่าเรียกและรอ ก็ถือว่าคุ้มเพราะอยากไปไหนเขาก็รู้ทางจะให้จอดไหนก็ได้เพราะมีแค่พวกเรา

Read Part 1 of our Chiang Rai road trip here. No trip to Chiang Rai is complete without a short drive outside the city to Wat Rong Khun or more commonly known as The White Temple.

The White Temple is a privately owned, art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple that is owned by the local artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. He designed, constructed and opened it to visitors in 1997. His vision is his life work.

The White Temple is open all year round and there is no admission charge and donations are welcome but not above 10,000 baht as the artist doesn’t want to be influenced by big money.

As you can see from our photos it is a fascinating place to visit. No photo are allowed inside the main temple area but you can have fun trying to spot Micheal Jackson, Hello Kitty, Superman, 9/11 and Neo from the Matrix to name but a few on the wall murals,

Singha Park – Chiang Rai

สถานที่ต่อไปที่พวกเราจะไปกันก็คือ  ไร่บุญรอด
ปากทางเข้าจะเห็นโลโก้ สิงห์ทองตัวโตเด่นมาแต่ไกล แต่เนื่องจากวันนี้คนไปถ่ายกันเยอะพอสมควรเลยไม่ได้เดินไปใกล้ๆ
ภายในที่นี้จะมีรถบัสพาทัวร์และมีจักยานให้เช่า หรือถ้าใครนำรถส่วนตัวมาก็ขับเข้าไปได้เลย

โอเคมาเริ่มกันเลยนะค่ะ
วันนี้รถบัสพาทัวร์รอบไร่เต็ม ว่างอีกทีตอนบ่ายๆ พวกเรามาถึงประมาณ10โมง ก็ไม่รอแน่นอนเพราะจะปั่นจักรยาน
ที่นี่มีจักรยานอยู่2แบบ 1.แบบเสือภูเขา 2.แบบสองที่นั่ง (แบบรูปด้านล่าง)
ค่าเช่าจักรยาน
(ราคาอาจจะมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงยังไงสอบถามทางไร่อีกทีนะค่ะ)

 

 

Singha Park is a large farm estate that has been developed for agro-tourism by Boon Rawd. If you have been in Thailand for more than five minutes (or a Chelsea fan) you will know Singha beer is the national alcoholic beverage of the country. The company behind it also have many other interests and Singha Park was one we wanted to see more of.

We hired a tandem and a mountain bike and cycled around the car free lanes for a few hours, stopping only to take photos and refresh ourselves with water.., not beer!

We were looking forward to having a birds eye view of the farm from the zip line. Unfortunately for us it wasn’t open for use on the day we visited and none of the staff around seemed to know or care when it was back in action.

ปั่นมาเจอทุ่งทานตะวันกำลังบานสวยในตอนนั้น

พอผ่านทุ่งทานตะวันก็จะมาเจอทะเลสาบและหงษ์

มาถึงสิ่งที่รอคอย กิจกรรม Zip Line มีด้วยกัน4ฐาน ราคาคนละ 800บาท
แต่โชคร้ายวันที่เรามา เขาเปิดให้เล่นตอนบ่าย2โมง รู้สึกผิดหวังมากเพราะถามพนักงานตั้งแต่ทางเข้าก็ไม่สามารถให้คำตอบได้ บอกแค่ว่าต้องสอบถามพนักงานที่จุดด้านใน เราก็โอเคได้ค่ะปั่นจักรยานมาถึง พนักงานบอกเปิดบ่ายสองค่ะ -_-
ก่อนที่จะมาก็มีดูตามเน็ตบ้างเจอบางรีวิวก็บอก บางวันเปิดบางวันปิดเอาแน่ไม่ได้ เราก็ไม่อยากจะเชื่อก็มาเจอเองดีกว่าก็อย่างที่เจอ
น่าเสียดายอุส่าห์มาถึงที่แต่ไม่ได้เล่น ไม่เป็นไรค่ะ ปั่นชมวิวกันต่อค่ะ

จุดต่อไปก็คือ ให้อาหารยีราฟ, ม้าลาย, ชมวัววาตูซีและนกแก้วหลากสี

ส่วนอันนี้คือ ตะกร้าอาหารยีราฟ ข้างในก็จะมีกล้วยและแครอท ไม่ฟรีนะค่ะอันนี้เสียเงิน แค่20บาท/ตะกร้า
น้ำลายยีราฟมีเชื้อแบทธีเรีย หลังจากให้อาหารเสร็จแล้ว ควรล้างมือกันด้วยนะค่ะ ที่นี้เข้ามีบริการที่ล้างมือพร้อม

Giraffes, a truly beautiful and gracious animal was an unexpected find down on the farm. You can purchase a basket of fruit or vegetable to feed the giraffes by hand. There are also Zebra on the farm but they are shy and unpredictable animals so feeding them is a challenge.

ขณะนี้เป็นเวลากลางวัน เริ่มหิวกันแล้ว ก็ไปตามป้ายกันเลยนะค่ะ

We headed to Bhu Bhirom for lunch. Ask for a table on the top balcony so you can dine and drink in the spectacular views across the estate.

The food was exceptional and super fresh. I particularly liked the tea leaf salad and lamb cutlets.

ต่อไปก็เดินทางกลับที่พัก
ตั้งใจจะไปร้าน ชีวิตธรรมดา แต่บังเอิญวันนั้นมีคนจัดงานแต่งงานที่ร้าน
ก็เลยไปร้าน มโนรมย์ Manorom
ตั้งอยู่ใกล้ริมน้ำกก

Eating in Chiang Rai

After a long day walking, cycling and eating we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading down to the river for more tea and as the sun sunk in the northern sky, dinner.

The original place we were heading to was closed for a private wedding but as luck would have it, our driver new of a place nearby called Manorom. It’s a quintessentially Victorian English garden by the river with a international menu and delicious matcha green tea,

Sunday Street Market in Chiang Rai

หลังจากอิ่มกันแล้วก็มาเดินต่อกันที่ ถนนคนม่วน จะมีทุกวันอาทิตย์ Sunday Market in Chiang Rai.

วันนี้ก็จบทริปเชียงรายเที่ยวกันทั้งวัน ขอกลับไปนอนเติมพลัง
แล้วพรุ่งนี้เราค่อยไปขึ้นดอยกัน
